Trump’s Two Weeks Not So Great

Two weeks into the administration and we are seeing some unprecedented, and not in a positive way, activity. From being “too tired” to carrying out attacks that killed more civilians than terrorists, This has not been a good start.

Travel Ban
Whether you like Donald Trump’s first two weeks in office or not, there some things that should be of concern.

His apparent disdain for the three branches and check and balance in the face of judicial rulings against his Travel ban should be a concern.

He directed the DHS to ignore the initial stay issued early in the week. When this stay was upheld, he took to twitter to rip into the (Bush appointed, unanimously approved) judge.

“The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!”

Paris Attack
This week there was an attack on one soldier in Paris, the attacker had a machete. The attacker was immediately stopped by another soldier and taken into custody. No Tourist lockdown. Neither Paris not all of France were on edge. Oh, and it wasn’t at the Louvre Museum.
Yet the President felt the need to stoke fears with unfounded and ignorant tweets.

“A new radical Islamic terrorist has just attacked in Louvre Museum in Paris. Tourists were locked down. France on edge again. GET SMART U.S.”

Places Bannon on Security Council
Steve Bannon was made a permanent member of the principals committee, giving him equal position with other Cabinet-level officials. Trump removed experiences military leaders from the Security Council’s permanent member level.

Too tired
Australian PM Turnbull got an earful from President Trump on refugees, and then a dial tone when Trump hung up on him 25 minutes into the 1 hour call. After spending a good part of his campaign bragging about his stamina, it came as something of surprise when his staff rationalized the incident by telling the public that, by 5pm, the President had a long day and was tired. Too tired. Ironic.

Taking out the families of Terrorist
In Yemen, US Special Forces conducted an operation in which 25 people were killed. Nine women, six children among them. The Military is conducting an investigation. Did Trump just execute on his campaign promise to attack families of terrorist?

After two weeks in office, President Trump is taking a few days of and vacationing at his Floriday mansion. Two weeks. Vacation. Rounds of golf.
